Marsh, the world's leading insurance broker and risk advisor, today announced that Tim W. Farward has joined the firm as a nuclear client advisor based in the Philadelphia office.
Mr. Farward joins Marsh from the U.S. Navy, where he served for eight years as an assistant engineering officer on a nuclear submarine and as an
assistant professor of Naval Science at Florida A&M University. He earned a B.S. degree in Systems Engineering from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, and completed nuclear credentialing at the Naval Nuclear Power School & Prototype in Charleston, South Carolina.
A Certified Nuclear Engineer, Mr. Farward is currently receiving a Masters Degree in Engineering Management from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. He is the recipient of two Navy Achievement Awards and was recognized as a Modern Day Technology Leader during the 2007 Black Engineer of the Year awards.
At Marsh, Mr. Farward will report to J. Shannon Moyer, leader of the firm's U.S. Nuclear Energy Center of Excellence.
"We're delighted to welcome Tim to our team as we continue to build on our industry — leading nuclear expertise," said Mr. Moyer. "With a global emphasis on technologies that lower carbon emissions, nuclear energy is experiencing a renaissance in the U.S., and our clients are seeking our support to evaluate and manage the complex risks associated with facility siting, development, construction, maintenance, and repowering."
Through the years, Marsh has worked extensively with the nuclear power industry, beginning with arranging coverage for the design and construction of numerous reactor projects in the 1970s and 1980s. In the 1990s, Marsh pioneered risk management solutions for plant decommissioning projects and placed major insurance programs to support government radiological cleanups.
More recently, Marsh has provided due diligence assistance for a large number of nuclear plant acquisitions, supported global plant construction projects, and developed alternative property solutions for domestic non-reactor properties. In addition to its extensive global resources in the energy and utility/power sectors, Marsh also brings related expertise to the nuclear power industry through its Global Transportation Industry, Global Environmental Risk, and Risk Consulting practices.
