Marsh, the world's leading insurance broker and risk advisor, today announced the appointment of Philip Gawthorpe as Multinational Client Service Practice Leader for the Midwest Zone. Marsh's Multinational Client Service Practice has more than 1,000 Marsh employees in over 100 countries worldwide, solely focused on delivering the firm's industry-leading insurance solutions and service excellence to clients whose programs require the commitment of global expertise and an intimate knowledge of local markets.

Allen, president of Marsh's Multinational Client Service Practice.  "His proven leadership ability and broad international experience will serve him well as he leads our efforts to help multinational clients throughout the Midwest navigate the increasingly complex global business environment."

Mr. Gawthorpe, who has more than 30 years of insurance industry experience, will be based in Marsh's Chicago office and report to Mr. Allen and to Greg Stanbury, Marsh's Midwest Zone Leader. He joins Marsh from Aon, where he was managing director of Global Business units, responsible for U.S.-based international operations.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Gawthorpe was with Marsh in Chicago and Cleveland, and was responsible for international business. In addition to working in the U.S., he has held positions in insurance in Bermuda, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and England.  He serves on the board of the British-American Business Council of Chicago.
