The first half of 2011 has been marked by a record number of costly catastrophic events worldwide—the effects of which are still not entirely realized in the global insurance markets.
To help businesses effectively manage their risks, Marsh will hold a one-hour webcast on Wednesday, July 20 at 11 a.m. ET, examining the current state of the insurance market and top issues driving property, casualty, financial and professional, and other coverage lines.
“The overall global insurance market remains strong and well capitalized,” said Brian Elowe, managing director in Marsh’s Global Risk Management Division, and moderator of the webcast. “However, insurers are applying more discipline around their underwriting practices. Rate reductions are still available in some lines, but they are less common than a year ago.”
In addition to Mr. Elowe, scheduled panelists include: Duncan Ellis, leader, Marsh’s U.S. Property Practice; Evan Freely, leader, Marsh’s Global Political Risk and Trade Credit Practice; LouAnn Layton, leader, Marsh’s U.S. FINPRO Practice; Cliff Rich, head of Market Information, Guy Carpenter; and Jonathan Zaffino, leader Marsh’s U.S. Casualty Practice.
